WINNERS AGAIN!

Middle School Winner -- Dueitt Middle School
Dueitt Child Nutrition employees, from left, are  Leonel Largaespada Silva,  Maria Tena,  Beverly Mayes and Elizabeth Gutierrez.

The annual gingerbread house contest in December is the one time when Spring ISD Child Nutrition Department workers take a break from closely monitoring the sugar content in what they cook. In fact, workers take the “sweeter the better” approach to their creations, which can take as long as a month to design and produce.

Entries are required to be 85 percent edible and fit in an area that measures 18 by 26 inches. At many of the schools, students get to watch the construction projects develop as they pass through the serving lines in their cafeterias.

The finished houses were on display recently at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, where judges had the difficult task of deciding which of the 38 entries would be named winners in seven categories.

Congratulations to DMS Child Nutrition employees...Job Well Done, again!
