Spring ISD Reaching for Excellence Graduation Walk is Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6
Spring ISD is asking the community to join with its schools and reach out to students who have not returned to school in the fall. District and campus staff members, district business partners and community volunteers will be knocking on doors in the neighborhoods as part of Spring ISD’s Reaching for Excellence Graduation Walk.
Volunteers can apply and will undergo a training session before they go into the neighborhoods. Some volunteer groups will be equipped with handouts, door hangers and will be following a map of the student residences, while others will be making phone calls encouraging absent students to return.
Spring ISD Director of Community Engagement Christina Allen-Crowder, is encouraging community members to step in and help out.
“We want to show our students who may not have returned to their schools that their community cares about them and is teaming up with their schools to find them and offer help,” said Allen-Crowder.
The Spring ISD Reaching for Excellence Graduation Walk is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 6. Volunteers need to be signed up by Aug. 27.
Spring ISD is working to bring a big community response for this districtwide initiative. To volunteer and get additional information, please call the Spring ISD Community Engagement Department at 281-891-6012.
