Rarshunda Phillips, Teacher of the Year

My name is Rarshunda Phillips and I am humbled to represent Hoyland Elementary as the Teacher of the Year. This is my 14 year in Education. I began my teaching career in a private school for 2 years, before joining Cy-Fair ISD for 9 years. Last year, I was welcomed into the Hoyland Family, where I serve as a Fourth grade ELA teacher. I am a graduate of the University of Houston, with a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. I am married with one amazing daughter, and one naughty dog.

Teaching and writing are my passion, and in Fourth grade I have the opportunity to do both. It is my hope to inspire the next great author. I believe that there is a story within each of us, which means a writer is waiting to be born. To my student’s, keep calm and WRITE on..

I was born and raised in Colorado, where I went to college for a Bachelor's degree in Art and Design and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Before moving to Texas, I taught two years at a private school. This is my first year teaching at a public school, and I truly appreciate all of the support that I have received throughout the school year. Thank you again for this honor.

During this time, they discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, create fun memories, and are equipped with resources to strengthen their relationship.
